Season update

It has been a long time since i updated the site and a lot has happend since than. After the engineblow in Germany we started season 2011 and new for the season is a new engine and the old will also (or is already) repaird and fit for fight.

I have also promised my mechanics that they have a lighter driver for the season 2011. The team will probably remain the same and we are motivated to get back to the racetrack in may at Santa Pod Raceway.

I would also like to thank my team for a very hard and good work even if we didn`t get the results we were hoping for. I would also like to thank my sponsors Fjäder, Berner Pultti, LSK-Project, Oili Jalonen, Metaplan for the season 2010. We hope that we can surve them for the season 2011.

Stay tuned for new updates.

2010 FIA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro Circuit, Finland

Home again after a though weekend at Alastaro Circuit here in Finland. We started qualifications on Friday and made a decent qualification run for Saturday. On Saturday we drove with our other engine that had just arrived from USA last night. The whole team was very excited after working all night installing it so with the new engine between the framerails the team had very high expectations but it didn`t go as planned. The throttle got stuck and I didn`t manage to get the shuts out in time but luckily I still managed to keep the car to stay upright. The team and a lot of competitors helped us and made a fantastic job making it possible for us to run Sundays eliminations. First run was against Tommy Leindahl who drove the best run of the weekend but lucky for me I got him on the lights and went throw to the next round.

In the second round I had Michael Malmgren against me. He had made very solid runs all weekend and I was really focused to nail him but what happened? We both went in to stage same time and the starter shot down three at once but I didn’t get the RPMs up and that’s pretty much it. Michael also had a terrible light but mine was even worse and so he went through to the final against Jan Palmqvist and in the end it was Michael who took the win.

We are currently repairing the car for Veidec Festival at Mantorp Park in about two weeks time. Stay tuned and visit live Veidec Festival coverage via Eurodragsters website. I`m currently at third place in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship point standings. Malmgren is currently leading and Michael Callin is second.

P.S. A big thanks to everyone that helped or borrowed us spare parts this weekend.

2010 FIA Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, England

We arrived at the track on Wednesday late afternoon after a long drive from London Heathrow Airport. Our truck driver Kari arrived yesterday and when we finally arrived he had already put up the tent and unpacked everything. We made some small adjustments to the car later that evening and are planning on driving at least one test run tomorrow (Thursday). We have been so busy that we haven´t had a chance to test the car before this.

On Thursday we tested the car for the very first time and ran a 6.81 /199.76 mph. I shut off early because it was the first run with the car and I wanted to make sure that the chutes worked. We were quite satisfied with the run. We made some major adjustments to the car and we are now confident that we will run a lot faster on Saturday when the race starts for real.

Unfortunately the qualifications on Saturday totally rained off. The track crew tried to dry the track several times but every time it started raining again. The qualifications and eliminations round on Sunday did not go as we had hoped either, on the first run we had major issues with the carburetors and the brand new engine from US didn`t co-operate with us so we didn`t get a time. On the second run of the day the car black striped all the way to the finish line and we only drove a 7.01. We were not quite satisfied with todays runs but let`s hope tomorrow is a better day. Today we qualified as #5 so we will definitely be in the finals tomorrow. First run will be against Jan Palmqvist or Snowball as they prefer to call him.

On the finals on Monday the first run was against Snowball. He had a better start line reaction and got away first but in the end I was quicker and won the round and went through to the next round that will be against Michael Malmgren from Sweden. He had better start line reactions and I had no chance against him since our engine bugged. Michael went through to the final round against Michael Callin from Sweden.

In the end it was Michael Callin who took the win with better start line reactions. We ended up at forth spot this time, not quite as we had hoped but we will still keep on fighting for the championship. We hope to have the gremlins in the engine sorted out before Nitro Nationals in Finland.

The engine will be sent over for inspection and repair to US and hopefully make it back in time for second championship round at Alastaro Circuit in Finland in July. To find out more about tickets and opening hours about Nitro Nationals go to: www.fhra.fi.
